If your ceremony is on a beach or in the bush, make sure there will be shelter for you and your guests — and don't forget to include your celebrant and other wedding providers in any last-minute venue change!

Who can be my witnesses?

Your two witnesses can be anyone you choose; however, they must be over 18 and able to understand the ceremony.

Is it true I can't get married if I am intoxicated before the ceremony?

Accepted Answer

Correct! All parties — including the two witnesses — must be sober at the time of the ceremony. If there is any doubt, a celebrant is required by law to refuse to conduct the ceremony.
